There were 1200 kids ages 12-18 here in Tampico, July 29-Aug 1 , for an area wide youth conference. Quite a massive undertaking. We were not directly involved, but we sure felt there presence. The institute was a real hub of activity.
We were invited to go to the "Programa Cultural" on Friday night held at the gymnasium of the nearby university. Each Stake's youth performed a native or cultural dance. It was amazing--the energy, the skill, and the enjoyment of performing. It was really amazing. And I thought of all our granddaughters and how much they would have loved the beautiful dresses.
It was a great program. Only one drawback. The air conditioning was not working. Never been so hot in my life. A half an hour after the program when we returned home, every article of clothing I was wearing was wet, real wet. Never been so hot in my life. Program was still worth it.
